Identity with an industrial character

Branding the story of a lost ship. Bar restaurant IJver is the go-to place in the 100-year-old Shipbuilding yard at the NDSM wharf in Amsterdam. The sturdy industrial interior with 34 taps and about a hundred different bottled beers makes IJver a new beer Valhalla.

To create a unique identity for IJver, we first came up with a brand story. A vintage bottle opener baring the name IJver found at the shipyard refers to a 1930s cargo ship mysteriously wrecked. We used the bottle opener as an icon for the identity.

Inspired by the shipyard

From porcelain plates with a brand icon, menu cards to dinner checks, each item has a fresh graphic style inspired by the shipyard. The Factory time clock, the ship's logbook, and specific 1930s fonts give the identity a unique character.
